Who Controls Art? Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee, 2011

About
Who Controls Art? was a three-person installation involving video, fabric installations, and paintings. Each work explored various resources in the community that could potentially “control art”. Each artist created work that was influenced by a potential controlling resource: government, community, commerce, education, youth, etc. On the night of the opening reception, we asked viewers to donate a dollar to vote on who they thought controlled art in the community. A local organization within the resource that got the most votes was given the monies earned by the vote participants.
